We, at Tidbit®, like to keep things simple and fun! We’ll show you how to lanolize your wool diaper covers, soakers, doublers, and even wool baby pants ~ all in a simple step-by-step method!
What is Lanolin? Function in Wool Diaper Covers?
Lanolin is a rich, natural oil obtained from the fleece of sheep after shearing. Wool is absolutely self-maintaining ~ high lanolin content neutralizes the urea in urine. Therefore, no urine odor on wool covers until the lanolin becomes less. (While synthetic diaper covers start to smell after one or more uses, wool covers & soakers stay fresh longer)!
Lanolin definitely "waterproofs" and prolongs the life of wool diaper covers. Acting as a hair conditioner, it keeps wool fibers soft and supple. Have you ever seen a sheep with split-ends?? (lol)

How to Lanolize Wool Diaper Covers, Soakers, Longies & Baby Pants
~ Simple Step-by-Step Directions ~
Before using that cute wool cover for the first time, it will need to be lanolized! After the initial lanolizing, you only need to re-lanolize your cover every 4-6 weeks (or when you notice less waterproof-ness).
It's so simple, trust me! =)
Items needed:
Wool diaper cover
Small cup (empty baby food jars work great).
Spoon (or something to stir with).
Lanolin (we recommend pure lanolin, such as the Lansinoh brand).
Small basin
Hot, as well as tepid (lukewarm) water
Towel

Here's what you've been waiting for...
• In small cup, add a pea-sized amount of lanolin and hot water, (add a drop of natural (or mild) soap; it helps to dissolve the lanolin.
• Stir to dissolve.
• Add this lanolin mixture to a basin of tepid water – turn wool cover inside out; submerge.
• Soak 15 – 30 minutes.
• Gently place on a towel and roll up "jelly roll style" to squeeze out excess water (or gently "spin" in washer).
• Lay flat or line dry!
Whew... that WAS easy!
