Cloth Diaper & Wool Care
|
| |
The following are recommendations for basic "diaper duty". You may even find another that works better for you!

CLOTH DIAPER / PREFOLD / CLOTH DOUBLER CARE
The cloth diaper fabrics have been pre-washed once prior to sewing. To obtain the diapers' full absorbency and to remove natural waxes in the organic fabric, we highly recommend washing the cloth diapers a few times before use.

TO WASH
1. We suggest a cold cycle pre-rinse (no detergent). This rinse helps loosen and remove stains.
2. Wash diapers with hot/warm water using a small amount of mild detergent, vegetable-based soap (if you use too much creates a residue), or soap nuts.
3. Tumble or line dry. Line dried diapers benefit from the sun's natural bleaching process.
If you notice diapers have detergent build-up, try adding some vinegar or lemon juice to the pre-rinse cold cycle (in Step 1). Lemon juice is also a great natural fabric whitener/brightener when added to the regular wash cycle.
Use NO detergents with whitening enzymes (can cause severe rash), NO Dreft, NO bleach and NO fabric softeners. Softeners ruin diapers' absorbency!

RAW NOIL SILK LINERS
Handwash lukewarm water with mild soap ~ can use castile soap or soap nuts. Tumble low or line dry. Liners may be gently machine washed cold cycle, otherwise it may reduce the healing aid properties.

WOOL COVER CARE Lanolin is a rich, natural oil obtained from the fleece of sheep after shearing ~ maintains softness, elasticity, and is moisture resistant. Wool is absolutely self-maintaining ~ high lanolin content neutralizes the urea in urine. Therefore, no urine odor on diaper covers until the lanolin becomes less. Wool covers only need to be washed once every other week (we've even gone longer) or when soiled! Between diaper changes, simply hang covers to dry when damp. Re-lanolize once every 4-6 weeks or when you notice less waterproofness.
